New Google Enterprise Search Version

There is a new Google Enterprise Search version available. One of the cool new features is OneBox. OneBox can help you access information from existing business systems. There's an impressive list of enterprise software vendors who have already signed up like Cognos, Oracle, Cisco, Salesforce.com, SAS and many others. Thinking how to make that effectively show up within a search result will be a fun challenge.

Comments

Google's move into the enterprise isn't surprising and we should expect to see more announcements of this type in the near future. The key question is whether Google believes that their enterprise search and related products can replace a corporate intranet or an enterprise portal. In a similar fashion to Google's approach to the web space, it appears that Google will continue to broaden their offerings within the enterprise without admitting that their solutions are becoming more like a portal package. Needless to say, the increased competition will benefit company employees who have difficulty in finding the information they need to do their jobs.

I wonder if Google Enterprise is profitable as their solutions are much cheaper than those from competitors like Autonomy and FAST.
